A Little Late for Fall Cards

I know it's a little late for Fall cards but you know what thay say...."better late than never." I actually made these cards several months back but just learned how to get them from my (new) camera to here.

I can honestly say it actually felt good to just put something together. I had spent most of this year caring for my Dad which didn't leave alot of time to play and I wasn't home so needless to say my creative mojo left completely. My Dad passed away May 29, 2011...then I had all that follows to take care of. My bestest buddy, Toby, my little dog passed away Nov.3, 2011 so I am hoping and praying 2012 will be a much happier year for my little family. Last but certainly not least, my hubby and I spent Christmas with my daughter and her hubby. She cooked a wonderful Christmas dinner and we had fun. God is good.

Christmas

There is nothing prettier than a quiet, snowy day. My family thinks I'm the Grinch but what they don't know is I really love Christmas. This Christmas will be especially sad for all of us because we lost my Dad in May and my little dog (Toby) passed away Nov.3,2011. My daughter says I'm morbid but we deal with loss differently. I'm taking this Christmas to grieve. It's like I'm starting over, in so many ways I suppose I am. Hope you enjoy my pictures from last Christmas. I know so many of you have lost loved ones this past year so cheer up..next year will be here before you know it.

A Change In Seasons

Fall has never been my favorite season but the older I get the more I love it. The colors, the falling leaves, hot sunny days, grasshoppers everywhere. I live in the Appalachian Mountains. There is no place I'd rather be. We get to experience all four seasons. Yes...I am blessed.

I had so much fun putting this card together...because I love the colors!!! Just look how bright the sun is shining. I used card stock from one of my Taylored Expression kits.heidi Grace ribbon and rub-ons ( that's the green vine you see trailing up the right side of the card).Taylored Expressions buttons, Misc flowers and In Stitchiz thread. My flower stems are thread just in case you didn' see that. My stamp inside the card says...A Change In Seasons. I just loved that and should have taken a pic of that.

One day I was looking at Amber's blog and she had her cards perfectly straight in what I called a hair brush. I even went and got one but it didn't work like hers.( omg...I can be such a dummy)

So when we talked on the phone she said it was an antique holder for flowers. I am the type of person that wants to know exactly what something is so to search I went. They are called an antique flower frog. That's the little green thing you see my cards standing in. I found this one on Ebay for $10.00 and free shipping. Can't beat that!!!!

Seven Things I like About Fall

When my title came out of my mind I said...where in the world did that come from? Fall is not my favorite season. So to think of seven things is definitely going to be a challenge. First I'll share my card and that brings #7 of my "likes"...I love fall colors. I don't know about you but we get thru with Halloween straight to Christmas. Where do we drop fall off. My card is a rich brown with an even richer strip of red that matches my leaf. I added a light orange and white to display my digi stamp and my Harvest felt sticker. I love this little card.

I do have a light box and I know my pictures would be much plainer but I love my outside shots. I've been waiting for sunshine. You can see my (un)treated deck board but it does fit my country home. I was lucky enough to find me a "Flower Frog" to hold my cards. My daughter was displaying her cards using one so I had to find out everything about it!!!

One thing I forgot to mention is my ribbon flower that looks alot like a pumpkin. It was so fun to make and the orange brad from Taylored Expressions matches perfectly.

Springing Into Spring

I've been too busy to even go into my scrap room....definitely too busy to make a card...until today!!! I've been spending most of time with my Dad. He has been really sick and can't stay alone. So for right now he comes first.This card is so simple but says alot. I used Melissa Francis cardstock and the vintage picture is from her also. If it's Melissa Francis, well I love it. The felt flower has been laying here forever. We have rain forcast for the next week so I took a picture of my "golden bell". This beautiful flower brings sunshine into my heart even when it's cloudy.

I have always loved the month of May but where has this one gone? I do know this, I have accomplished absolutely nothing. Made a few cards...I suppose that counts. We got to choose a stamp from Sew Many Cards or use any one we wanted. I was in deep thought as I checked out these beautiful stamps. I wanted to bring them all home and take care of them. When I saw the sadness in this Donkey's eyes, I knew he was the one. Isn't he adorable? When I first was given the chance to work with digi's ...I was totally lost. I'm still lost..but learning...and it's fun. Leigh Ann, can you believe I said that???
With digi's you can make them any size, color as many as you like then choose #1. You can buy them online and have them instantly. They tend to be very cheap or at least reasonable. Have I convinced you yet???

When I found this FREE digi stamp I knew I had to try coloring it. I'm having problems posting anything on my blog so crossing my fingers here!!! I could color better when I was in 1st grade so be patient with me. I read everywhere that one needs to practice, practice, practice.

I don't know about you all but to me time is flying by and I feel like I get absolutely nothing accomplished. If this is your first stop at Sketch Girl, just grab some paper and colors and give it a try. This week we had 2 sketches to choose from....

Sketch Girl 15 And Phindy"s Place

Here it is the end of March and I'm not ready for Easter. It's really early this year but maybe it's just me getting slower. Anyway....it's time for

Sketch Girl again. We had 2 pattern sketches to play with and I chose the vertical one. It really is amazing how we as a group take the same sketches and come up with totally different designs. I love it...so much inspiration and so little time!!!!" giggle"

Here is my card for this sketch. This is a digi stamp from Phindy's Place and his name is Easter Joy. I had fun coloring this one, as most of you know that I struggle with my coloring. Here I am a 50 something woman learning to color. Can't wait to dip my brush into paint!!!!!

I remember when I was a little girl, we always fixed us a bunny nest the day before Easter. We were up early on Easter morning, running outside to look for eggs. They were everywhere and ...they were always warm. ( My Dad always took the time to warm them so we'd think the bunny just laid them). It was so much fun that carried over into Amber's Easters. Making memories as we go . That's what scrapping is all about, putting those memories back together. So much fun.

I printed my bunny on white cardstock and colored him before I cut him out. I popped him on my card with 3D-Dots, grew a little grass and hid a couple of eggs.

I have to keep reminding myself to set my clocks before I go to bed. I post notes everywhere and I'll pick them up when I set that clock. I think "old age" is creeping up a bit too fast. Just Piddlin' In My Scrap Room

I love my Cricut. Amber got me one for Christmas in 2009. I was so excited and at the same time I'm telling her...you spent TOO much. I cut this little birthday cake along with secret pockets for money or gift cards. I cut out one exactly like 1st. one on plain card stock and attached to the back of my card. Who doesn't love birthday cake???? This one is calorie free. All my cards tend to be very feminine, that comes from just having a daughter.

This week at Sketch Girl we are doing digi again. If we keep this up I might learn to enjoy it. I loved getting a new coloring book and crayons when I was a kid. I never colored outside the line. Well...you all know that I've been sweating bullets with these digi's. This time it was a bit easier. I'm using scraps of paper and ribbon and flower from my scrap table. The markers are simply called brush pens. I've looked everywhere for a brand name but it's not on there. I love the little Prince Rye and Princess Rose from The Royal Court...they are a perfect couple. I can see these two in wedding attire shortly!!!! Wild Flower Kids is our sponsor this week and will be giving 5 digi stamps to the winner.

Sketch Girl 12 / Digi Adventure

Sassy Studio Designs is our sponsor for this challenge and they provided us with 2 images to use. This sketch was a step outside my box in a big way. I have never made a card where I used a digi stamp or colored on a card myself. I even e-mailed Annie and said I can't do it but Amber was saying yes you can. Don't you dare give up. Well I took that step. The digi stamp was fun to work with and you can make as many copies as you want to practice on. (thankfully)...I haven't gotten any copics yet so I tried out every kind of marker and my favorite was simply a colored pencil. It might not look like it but I put in at least 40 hrs of hard labor on this little gem. It was fun. I have learned that one never gets too old to learn something new.

Better Late than Never / Sketch Girl 11

I know everyone in blogger land has had computer problems at some time...well let me tell you...I'm ready to throw this one outside. Might even make a snowman on it. That would show it who is boss!!!! I lost everything I had saved. Now I'm a poor blogger without a hope. I see a new puter in my future...when the snow and ice melt. Did I say snow??? Well just a little...started out being around 8". Frigid temps and no computer.

I'm a bit late with my Sketch Girl post and forgive me for not having my pictures focused just right but like I said...lost everything and starting over. So these are just raw pics of my cards. Amber came up last week and showed me how to make these cute little flowers that she had seen on another blog. They are so fun to make and super easy. So this is my take on the sketch this week. Maybe I'll be more together by the 15th.

When I first see a sketch I think oh that will be an easy one. Well...I tend to make them more difficult than they need to be. So maybe next time I'll just jump in with both feet...and not over think or make 5 cards before I settle for the first.

I used Melissa Frances paper both patterned and plain. My flower, button, pink ribbon and rubon are Melissa Frances also. The white ribbon came from my Northern friend and I'm using it sparingly. The pink scallops at the top and bottom are BoBunny paper that I adore.

Shower of Flowers

I think it's every little girl's dream to toss a handfull of flowers into the air and let them fall down on their head. I remember picking daisies with my cousins and the fun and laughter still echoes in my head today. We had so much fun and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. This card I made today reminded me of those days. I think it looks like I just threw up the flowers and they landed on the card. It was fun to make. The challenge is for Die Cuts R Us, the reguirements are to use the colors in the title. I used Taylored Expression cardstock. To make my flower I used BoBunny paper and Taylored Expression paper and my Cricut to cut out different size flowers , then I glued those to my base card. I added the largest pink button I could find and used my beautiful Melissa Frances ribbon for my bow. ( I tend to put back my favorite pieces to use for later ). I then opened my container of Prima flowers and they popped out unto my legs!!! I almost felt like that little girl again!!!I used a corner punch and placed paper under the edge so you could catch a glimpse of pink. Then I used a Melissa Frances rubon to finish it up. They say a true friend is better than gold. Hope this brings a smile to your face and memories to your heart.

Two Post In One Day......I Must Be Sick

This is my very 1st. pecan pie. I'm not one to brag but honestly not only was it picture perfect...it was delicious. I am so proud...doing my happy dance here. If anyone would like to have the recipe just leave me a comment. I also make a peanut butter fudge that was a hit at all the church dinners and family holidays. I haven't made any yet but my MIL gets the 1st batch all to herself. She loves it.

This little card was so fun to make, I'm heading to my scrap room as soon as I post this. Sometimes the crafty side of my brain is on high, so I need to take advantage of that. I used all Melissa Frances paper and cut-out trees. The snowflake is Christmas decoration that you always find in the bottom of the box. The ribbon is some I won from a fellow crafty friend with a box of goodies.

Appalachian Country Christmas

I'm still working with Linda Albrecht's Christmas Kit from The Scrappy Gourmet. I love this kit, working with the winter papers and making them mine. I plan to use some of these cards as an added decoration to some special gifts. The lucky relatives will have them to use next year as tags, ornaments or handmade cards. The possibilities are endless.

If you look closely at the card picture then compare it with this picture. Yep...we got our 1st. snow of the year and it's not even winter. Could this be a taste of what is yet to come? Embedded deep in these Appalachian Mountains, one never knows.
My sister has posted her Saturday morning snow and you can find her here. My daughter also posted her snowy pictures here. Yep...we are all 3 scrappers and we love sharing this hobby. When we visit we all take a peek into eachother's craft room. It's like the heart of the house....but only to us!!! That's the secret..sharing something we love.
The pictures below are a look out my back door. The snow is so heavy it's on every little branch and twig. Beautiful.

Christmas

I mentioned in another post about this "PERFECT" Christmas Card Kit designed by Linda Albrecht for The Scrappy Gourmet (my online favorite place to shop). I am still having a blast with these beautiful papers and embellishments. Whenever I'm stressed I sneak off to my craft room and voila...a card in just a few minutes. I make mine by the pattern but put enough of me into it to make it mine.

I didn't think I would like this snowman pattern BUT...I used my cricut to cut out my perfect circles, drew my hat and this became my favorite card. My daughter, Amber was looking at them and said..."Mom, you have to post this card." So Amber, I'll make sure you get this one on a package for Christmas.

My Angel... ♥amber♥

My little angel girl's name is amber!!! I made her from scraps on my scrap table. I am so proud of her. Her body is made of folds of ribbon. I tucked each end under the pink button. I probably should have used a white button but my daughter, Amber loves pink!!! I attached the ribbon to a cardboard circle then to the card. I used Melissa Francis glittered wings. I adore these...they add class and sparkle and shades of color. Her head is just a white pom-pom. Her silver halo is the string from a Christmas tag. I scattered some Heidi Grace snowflakes to fill in the empty space. My little amber isn't very large but it has taken me 3 days to put her together.

I usually don't get into making Christmas cards much but I ordered this kit put together by Linda Albrecht. I have had so much fun with all the different papers, buttons, bows, ribbons, glitter and do I need to say more. I thought this card was perfect for this week's Sketch Girl. My Dad is not feeling too good right now so I'll be spending some time with him. I think it's more for my peace of mind than his. He is retired from the coal mines leaving his lungs in bad shape. He is on oxygen 24/7 so the least little cold is major for him. He celebrated birthday # 80 in September. He has been very blessed and he will tell you that. If you ever met him you would remember him!!! Yep...I'm very proud to be his daughter.

Vintage me!!!!

My sister, we call her "T", her name is Tammie and my daughter, Amber, who is on several DT and is everywhere in Blog-land are not only family but my 2 very best friends. They both have been scrappers for many years while I sat on the sidelines. I worked 40+ hrs a week and honestly, I had no time for hobbies. I was fine one day and then the next day I was suffering with a back injury that literally brought me to my knees. This goes to show you that YES...life can change in an instant. I am thankful that I am able to walk so I deal with the pain. One does what one has to do. Tough life lessons. My dad, who is 80 yrs old always did the birthdays in his family. A call from dad was the gift everyone came to expect. So, out of the blue, I told him that I wanted to do birthdays, like passing the torch to me!!! I was so excited and believe me I am not even in the same league as dad. I'm learning and really getting to know my family. I decided to make cards and send to family members ( not only aunts and uncles but cousins and 2nd cousins and etc.) I am already so behind so my new starting day is Jan. 1,2010. I'm working on addresses and names and locations and I love it. I have discovered that not only is making cards fun but it's great therapy also. It keeps my mind on other things rather than pain. I have spent so much cherished time with my dad, asking questions and getting to know so much about my family that I didn't know.My sister had brought me this plain little brown, blank album that I had put away with no intentions of doing anything with. Well, this plain little book became my very 1st scrapping treasure. I want to share my own personal story that got me started in this wonderful hobby. I love learning and I have always loved paper so the possibilities are endless

We were very poor but then everyone else was also...we never knew. We always had great food...lots of laughs...and love...so much LOVE. Just a note to finish up..we never ate possum but it worked so well with the little brown book.

Sketch Girl 8 Sneak Peek

I am one of those people who thinks they always "have it together", well, I'M NOT!!!! I don't know if that's a good thing to learn at my age because I sure can't go back and get anything together so I'm determined to start NOW. Guess what??? I bought a ham yesterday to bake today. I thought it would be nice to have ham sandwiches for the next few days. I also fix this bean soup where I cut ham pieces, add pinto beans, onion, bacon and fix cornbread...this kind of food sticks to your ribs kind of food!!! Well..the thing is..I didn't remember the ham until I saw the knife and fork on my card. lol...anyway...check out Leigh Ann's blog

Autumn Pleasures.....Scraps In Time

Just wanted to share a couple "FALL" cards I have made just for the simple pleasure of making something. I haven't made anything for a challenge in awhile and it feels good to just play in my scrap room.
I suppose Autumn is really here today. It's dark, dreary, and damp. The colorfull leaves are almost gone, probably with one more windy day. Time does change this Sunday and I couldn't be happier. I never feel rested (only in my mind) until I get my hour back.
I'm beginning to think about Christmas gifts and I have told my daughter and her husband that I need list NOW!!!! These 2 are usually my easiest. I never know what to get my Dad.

SG 7....Where Does The Time Go?

I fell in love with this little vintage child. She reminds me of my daughter when she was about that age. I love working with red, just makes everything POP right off the page. What about that lace?? Would you believe that is a paper doily? I just cut off the edges in four pieces, folded it in layers and made a soft place to land for my vintage girl. It was fun.

I'm late...I'm late...for a very important date!!! Oh well, maybe not late but just a wee bit tardy. Leigh Ann has another great sketch for us on this last day of September. Our first guest designer is Amber, a little farm girl from the great state of Kentucky. She loves to cook and is always trying new recipes. Anything Halloween!!! Last year at this time I was virtually new to crafting and blogging. Here I am a year later and you know what I have learned? Buy holiday craft supplies anytime you can find them because they are never on hand when you need them, especially if you live hours from a craft store. Told you...learning as I go.

You would think that with only 2 sketches a month it would be easy. I've had my card finished for days but while sitting in church today,( I was listening...this must have been during a song) a completely different card came on my mind. So I rushed home, ate dinner and got to work. I said in my sneak peek post that it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. I can just hear my Mom saying...Sis, I don't think I'd put that picture on there. If you look closely at the sketch pattern and my card you'll see where all my pieces fit. This was a fun little card and I just love my little trees.

My Favorite Card/ ICS DT Call

This is my favorite card. I love the soft, warm, feminine colors that are in all Melissa Frances kits. I used hand stitching on this card and I think that is the icing on the cake. The light blue ribbon is almost hidden in the many different paper patterns. The BIG pink button seems to be the main focus item and you gotta love that sentiment.
I am entering this card in the DT call for Inspirational Card Sketches. I always hesitate when it comes to entering anything, but hey...one never knows until one tries. Words I've said many times to my daughter so maybe I need to take my own advice.

Negative Can Be Good.....DCRU

This week at DCRU (Die Cuts R Us ) the challenge is to use a "negative". One of my favorite cards I ever made was using this little birdhouse. I always keep the paper scraps and I'm amazed just how often they are needed, you know how it is with "here a scrap there a scrap". So for my negative I used my Cricut to cut out my birdhouse, (Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge). Eventho the paper was already dotted, I used my Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder to run it thru. I couldn't use the house and leave it empty so I introduced my little family. I think my favorite thing about this card is the branches the birds are resting on. I couldn't get good lighting for my pictures. I took about 18 and narrowed it down but these really aren't that great. The card is better in person. lol
I see that Sammye Jo has a WooHoo!!!! She is one busy little Kentucky gal.

Ok Amber, I'm behind you 100% but I do expect you to take part in Sketch Girls this week.

SG4 With A Little Something Extra!!!!!

I've had my card made for days and I wait until today to try and get a good picture and YEP....it's rained all day. So I had to get out my light box. I really like using it but I need to tinker around with it just to get the lighting right. I'm not the most patient person in the world but we won't even go there.

Almost Time for Sketch Girl 4

Seems like the 31st. sneaks upon me every month. I know August is extremely busy for most folks. With school starting and everyone going in different directions. I miss those days but my daughter would say, "Ah mom....you know how much I hated school". She really did and I don't know why. She loved college and she loves being an RN, only by the grace of God. I thank Him for that.

Crafty Days

Everyone has those days when you just aren't in the mood to scrapbook or make cards. I'm one of those people that has to be do something at all times. I love working with plastic canvas. When my daughter was younger she loved anything Barbie. I would spend hours a day working on new items for her Barbie house. This outdoor furniture was so fun to make. She was so happy when I finished a project for her. I always tried to have it finished before she got home from school. Just a small way of telling her how much I loved her. I made many more settings I will show as days go by. If I ever have a grand daughter I'll do the same for her. Precious memories.
If you look closely at the picture, you'll see a stack of books on the sofa. See, told you, have to be doing something!!!!!!

DCRU / Color Challenge

This week over at Die Cuts R Us (DCRU), they have a color challenge. Sometimes I can't find that one piece of paper or that tiny little brad to finish up a project. This time I couldn't find the right cut-out for my Cricut. I've used this before and loved how it turned out. So anyway...Amber calls and I ask her, she tells me to look in the book. I'm like duh!!! If I could find the book I wouldn't have been asking her. But anyway...I did find my instruction manuel and the frame I wanted..and I put the little manuel back into it's own little box so next time, I'm ready!!! I am not an organized crafter.

I have always loved the color yellow. Maybe because it's bright and shiny and cheers me up. I remember the 1st word my daughter had to learn in kindergarten was YELLOW. I think this is probably my favorite project. It was like playing paper dolls and how I cherished those days. Now they have the magnetic versions but way back when...honey, it was paper all the way!!!!
I made the little dress adding an apron and collar to match then made the cutest little shoe. My daughter had the exact ones (only black) when she was little.
The dress could be used as a table decoration spread throughout the room with Mom & Dad info inside that friends would love to read. Maybe sneak a number under the apron for the door prize. The shoe can be used as a favor holder. Just fill with mints or nuts spread about the tables. The best thing yet is the many friends can take home a token to put in their very own scrapbooks as a memento. If it's a boy simply change the colors to blue and whatever. If it's gonna be a surprise then use pink and blue.

When I read the challenge for The Pink Elephant this week, I thought of denim. I cut these little overalls out thinking about a young boy having the whole day to do nothing but play. I wanted a green frog to put in the pocket but couldn't find one anywhere. This was really fun since we have no little boys in the family. Who knows....maybe a grandson in the future. Celebrate Crafty Creations Challenge

I just discovered "Crafty Creations Challenge" a few weeks ago. It's a wonderful blog so when you get a chance take a peek. The theme for this week's challenge is Celebrate. Doesn't matter what the celebration is...just do it!!!! The 4th. of July is so close to my birthday we always just combined the two. It was fun growing up and having family visit my Poppy and Granny and having birthday cake to share with everyone. We always had fireworks, ice cream and watermelon. Great memories from a wonderful childhood.
Now days it's much harder to get family together. Everyone works or is vacationing elsewhere. Doesn't matter...it's still July 4th and believe me I'd rather not call anyone's attention to the whole birthday thing. We started forgetting that about 12 yrs ago.lol

Just A Dream

I've been crafting for about a year now and I have fallen head over hills for Melissa Frances supplies. You give me a line-up of 20 cards and I can pick out one of her (supplies) cards. Well, I finally ordered me a couple kits, put together by Melissa Phillips. I followed her directions almost to the letter to put my little card together. I am no good with bows and I re-did this one many times and I'm still not happy with it, but I'm ok.
It has taken me days to even open the bags. I'd go in my scrap room and just admire them. My daughter visited the day after I got these and she loved them, even said she was a bit jealous. I can understand where she is coming from as I have been jealous of some of her supplies before. It's not a good feeling but hey...I ordered the last kit ( yep..they are cooking up some more at The Scrappy Gormet). I was still tempted to give them to her but I held back. I'm bad...so bad!!!! BUT I had so much fun putting my card together. Can't wait to start another one.
Now my little card is not even close to perfect but that is the beauty of being "handmade". This is my 1st time stitching on a card and I love how that turned out. I need to put the stitches closer together next time. Everyone knows I'm a scrapper in progress, learning as I go. I guess I've said enough and NOPE, no challenge for this card but I sure do love it and it's a winner for me. That's all that matters.

Winter Wonderland Challenge

I'm one of those last minute shoppers so starting on Christmas early is a great idea for me. I found this Christmas tree project in "Simply Beautiful Greeting Cards" by Heidi Boyd. When I was flipping through the pages it immediately got my attention.

I used plain white cardstock for my card. I drew my tree using a black permanent Pilot pen. It's so simple there was no need to trace anything. I used a scrap of red ribbon for the base of the tree and gold ribbon over the edge of the red. I then cut clear vellum the size of my card. I applied rhinestones to the front, arranging ornaments between the branches. I had more fun working on this one than any in a long time. Maybe we do need Christmas all year long.

Stamp Something For Me!!!!

I know I should be doing something else right now ...BUT...there is nothing I'd rather do than create. Sometimes my mind is like popcorn other times like mud..BUT..we won't go there. I have shared some wonderful time and come away with life-long memories spent with my Dad lately. We've looked thru tons of pictures and laughed and cried together. Precious memories. I was 5 when this picture was taken. So let's just say that was a very long time ago, just look how happy and carefree I was. Those definitely were the wonder years.
I used KI Overlay, laced with gold ribbon to add layers to this card. Used My Mind's Eye cardstock paper for my base. K&Co diecut that describes me perfectly in this picture.

I have no idea if a "perfect day" exists but some are near perfect. I usually save all my favorite paper scraps for special cards. With this one I used DCWV card stock for my base, KI Overlay (that I absolutely love), K&CO flowers covered with white crystal glitter and buttons from my stash. Seems that everyone is having computer and blogging problems. Wonder what's going on?? Last week I had problems posting then on Friday my phones and internet went bye-bye. Since it was a holiday weekend all the offices were closed and I thought we had 24/7 service. Looks like cutbacks are everywhere. So anyway, got everything taken care of early this morning and I learned a very good lesson. I can survive without a telephone and a computer. Is it fun? Well, NO....I was bored. If I hadn't had family visiting I don't know what I would have done. I didn't even read!!! Real bummer I know, but nonetheless, I did survive.
I made this card with The Pink Elephant challenge in mind.I used K&Co Recycled Double Sided Mat Pad for my base card. Making Memories Spiral Note Book Paper.
K&Co Cardstock Flowers dusted with white crystal glitter. I'm addicted to that stuff. Love the look!!! K&Co (AmyButler) diecuts. Put a little handwritten message on there to make it more personal.
Now comes the hard part. Mr. Linky isn't being helpful today.

Birdhouse

A fun challenge but I have worked on this birdhouse all day and it's not even wood!!!
I loved putting these colors together. The Caardvark's challenge is shapes, anything but rectangles and squares. My mind was buzzing with ideas and that makes me soooooo happy because I haven't been in a crafty mood. I wish I could get up every morning and have these wonderful card images in mind but breakfast comes first. If it wasn't for "Little Debbie" and a cup of coffee I would sleep much later. She and I have been best buds for many years!!!!
This birdhouse is a birthday card. I used Relaxed Cardstock for the main house. K&Co Transfers that cover the front of the card to look like flowers and vines. K&Co Cardstock Flowers and die cuts for the large flower at the bottom. Pull on the green ribbon to reveal a birdhouse door and the birthday bird sitting on her nest. The tag reads, "Happy Birthday You Old Bird". ( I LOVE THAT!!!!! hehehehe)

My first time with this challenge. PINK must be the color of spring. This card was fun to make. I used a blue ink pad to add some color to the front of my card and the edges of the star. Gives it that washed out color.

Again I am using my all time favorite paper. I think this black and white is so elegant. I have a few scraps left so I'm sure I'll be sticking them somewhere on another card. I dressed my black & white up with a little red...reminds me of a prom couple. Since black is one of my favorite colors I thought I'd give it a try.

ABC / Keep It Simple

I loved putting this card together. I kept it as simple as possible for the challenge this week. I put the flower together using K&Co and the paper is Be Blessed from the Signature Watercolor Collection. I traced the word "Be Blessed" with colored pencils and there it is. Plain and simple. Much like me!!!

Caardvarks / Tree

With the last theme, Fantasy, I thought no way would I ever come up with anything. Well, I did. With the theme this week being TREE, I thought no problem. I must confess I have had a very hard time with this tree. Maybe I've put too much thought into it and I know you can. Sometimes it's just best to go with the 1st thought. I know this is a bit off the wall but I've come up with 3 different trees and always come back to the original one and it's more of a Sunday School lesson for me.
My tree is full of words and the leaves that have fallen off are also. So my lesson and meaning to me is what will my leaves say that are left behind? See, all of a sudden it becomes MORE than a tree. Makes me still pause and think. I'm gonna post this thing and get out of here before I do another tree card.
I used makingmemories (Cheeky Pad) cardstock. DCWV Chipboard ( Old World ) sticker pack.
I probably should have left the family tree off this one I think it belongs to me only!!!!!

My First Baby Card / 2s4y

I've been collecting baby trinkets to do a re-make on my daughter's baby book. I had never intended to use some of these for a card but looks like that's where they ended up. At first glance my card looks nothing like the pattern used for 2s4y but turn it this way, and that way, look closely...yep...now you can see the pattern.
I used cardstock from ever growing stack, most of my do-dads are Colorbok and if you look closely, my clothesline is simple hemp.I made the diaper out of felt and used an old safety pin for the finishing touch. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Spring Sunshine

I was playing around with my Cricut and after cutting out these cute little flowers I had to use them. If the day is sunny and bright I tend to be sunny also. So I am looking forward to the next 3 days...today 65*...tomorrow and Saturday 75*. There is no place on earth any prettier than these steep Appalachian Mountains in the summer.
This little card was fun to make, I suppose it's because it was just thrown together with SCRAPS!!! That's what we do in our scrappy little world. I am so glad that I finally started making paper anything. It's fun, exciting, everyday is different, and I'm always thinking what I'm going to do next. I really enjoy blogging also. You all brighten my day.

Easter Card

The only person I have ever given a card to is my daughter. She really appreciates them and puts them on top of her pc in her scrap room to look at. That's all the inspiration I need. I made this one for her Easter basket ( she is only 29 ). Hubby says she is too old to get a basket but I don't think we ever get too old to celebrate anything. I love Easter so this card is colorful and simple...made just for her from me. She got a Barbie doll also...lol...like I said, never too old. Barbie just celebrated her 50th birthday so I got her a remake of the original and then I have the orignal one made in 1962. That's hers whenever she wants to take it home. I cooked dinner on Saturday and had my sister & her husband, my daughter and son-in-law, my Dad ( which was wonderful because he has been so very sick), me and hubby, sent plates home to 4 others so it was a busy day. Not many leftovers either, that's the way I like it.
I used K&Co Cardstock Flowers, sprinkled them with Sparkling Crystal glitter and K&Co Chipboard (Amy Butler). It was a plain and simple card. Said everything it needed to.

My Knight / caardvarks

When I saw the theme for this week's challenge I thought, can't do anything with that one.
I was wrong. I bought some new paper last week and was so happy when I found my knight, ( we are all waiting for ours aren't we)? Well, I had a bit of free time today and had so much fun working on this little card. I used DCWV paper titled "Once Upon A Time." I outlined my knight with Black Lumocolor, added a tarnished buckle that gives it that leatherbound look. Last I added some gold brads using my Clikit I got for Christmas ( gift from my daughter).

The Old World

I stopped by Big Lots on my way to get groceries and found a tablet of paper called The Old World. Well I had to buy it because sometimes I feel like I've been to the old world and back!!! ( I'm really not THAT old )... I picked up some other goodies and have played a bit today. I absolutely love this paper from DCWV. I've never seen any quite like this so I had to just try it out. Its titled "Once Upon A Time" and believe it or not...once upon a time I was this young child. I love this picture, my Dad has carried it in his wallet so long it has yellowed with age. Makes it mean even more to me. It seems the older I get the more interested I am with anything to do with my childhood. I've been spending alot of time with my Dad here lately and he tells me great stories that I'll cherish for ever. I want to thank everyone who has wished him well over the past weeks. He is improving and was able to go to church today. My Sister and I still stay nights with him and will until he tells us to go home!!!!! lol

This was a really fun project for me because my #1 passion is reading. Scrapping is definitely moving up so we never know!!!! I used DCWV cardstock for the marker in solid and printed paper, atd button sticker and American Crafts; minimarks ( some of my favorite rub on transfers). I do love reading when I have a pretty marker in my book. Right now I am using an empty gum wrapper. Oh My Goodness....that would be really bad for me but I have been staying with my Dad the past few weeks, he hasn't been feeling all that good. I'll save my marker for when I come home.

Wings / Tag Your It

Last week diamonds, this week wings, can't go wrong with either. My all time favorite perfume is Wings. I really didn't want to do butterflies but it's so warm here today I'm sure we'll be seeing some shortly. I've yet to see my first robins but my Dad saw some last week. The willow trees beside the creek have turned green over the past few days. I feel like I haven't posted anything in a long time, my Dad is in the hospital, ICU, not good at all...BUT he is a fighter.
I made my tag last week so forgive me for not having the recipe. My daughter says write everything down as you go. I will next time.

My first time with this challenge. What am I saying? It's practically my first time with any challenge. It was the circle that did it. I had no idea at all when I sat down at my desk, just a bunch of paper and do-dads...and...my Cricut. I think everyone has Spring Fever so flowers had to play a part in it and while cutting out my petals I noticed the little grasshopper. I wanted it to be a cricket so I just used black cardstock. If you notice my little girl cricket..she has pink antenna. A relationship has to begin somewhere.

I really like working with tags and when I saw this I had to go a step further and do a dog tag. This little dog reminds me of my daughter's best pal, Hitman (named for Bret the Hitman Hart...a Canadian wrestler). Hitman lived above and beyond expectations to be 16. They asked the vet a question about what to do concerning a dog that age, his reply was that he had no idea, most didn't live that long. He had a wonderful life and was such a joy to my daughter.

Good Old Days

I know everyone has heard the phrase, "The Good Old Days." As bad as times are today with the economy and this and that, I still think "These Are The Good Old Days." All you have to do is talk with my Dad, he was born during the Great Depression. He says they didn't know they were in a depression. They lived no different than anyother time. They grew their own food, processed their own meat and never went to bed hungry. I'd call them blessed.
Recipe:
I used KI Overlay, ATD button, K&Co Diecuts, and Heidi Grace cardstock punch outs. My Sister gave me the paper so I'll leave that one out.

Brighten My Day / Our Creative Corner

I love tags.Very simple way to dress up any card. I was feeling springy when I made this one but if you look closely at the bottom pic you'll see snow. Cool in more ways than one.

I need a little sunshine today, we have about and inch of snow, maybe more, windy and cold. I worked on this card yesterday and it was sunny and 55*. Beautiful!!! The bright colors seemed like "happiness." My favorite holiday is Easter. I love making my daughter and her hubby Easter baskets. I love all the bright pastel colors and the hope that spring brings with it.

If you look closely at the bottom of this picture you'll see some snow. My colors are still bright and I think the snow makes it different someway. Still a pretty card.

Lightbox

When I posted yesterday I mentioned my new light box and with that post I've had several questions. The "LightBox" I was referring to is for photos. It's used for taking craft and jewelry pics and getting the perfect light. The one I have is great. Everything folds into a carry all, no mess, no losing parts. The best part was my Sister found these for $20.00, called me from WalMart, ended up getting 3, one for her, one for me and one for my daughter. Will this make me a better scrapper?? lol I'm sure hoping.

I love shiny things but they don't mix well with light. I used my light box for the first time and I think it definitely makes a difference. The BEST part is...my sister found the light boxes at Wal-Mart for $20.00, (that's half price).

Pinwheels / Our Creative Corner

I love anything paper. Give me a sheet of paper and a pen and I'm a happy woman. My husband has no idea how lucky he is!!!! We won't share that with him tho. I've been working on these little pinwheels for days. I used the "Tea Bag Folding" technique which I love. So many things you can do with just one pattern. Where the pieces of paper are so small it's harder to work with and my fingers are a bit sore. But anyway, I wanted them to be flowers when I started them. I simply adore these peachy colors.

My card base is Glitter Metallic from The Paper Co. It was the perfect weight to fold nicely. My ribbon is paper from The Annie Danileson Collection, Sweet Pea and Rose Stripe Pattern. I used my Cricut and George Cartridge to cut out the flower stems and It's Your Day.

My little card is a pic of me at age 5. I think I had a sassy little look on my face. I laced gold ribbon thru the overlay. The Sassy diecut has some gold also. I find that it really helps when 1 little idea is planted. Thanks guys.

This is the 1st challenge I have ever entered. I'm new to the world of scrap but so far I'm loving it. I consider myself a "scrapper in progress." I want to learn everything right now, this has become MY adventure!!!!

My daughter has a birthday today and she has never gotten a card that I have made. She has been scrapping for many years, and is very good. Well, this year I jumped in with both feet and decided to give it a try. She will see it on here before I see her but I will give her the card when she visits next weekend. I just don't know where those 29 yrs have gone. It all still seems so recent to me. I told her once that all we can do is make memories everyday, tomorrow that's all we have. Happy Birthday Amber. I love you.

I used Heidi Grace embossed frames, flowers that Amber gave me and my Cricut to cut out the Birthday Blessings. It was a simple and fun card to make. My craft supplies are few and far between but I promise I am going to get REAL stuff soon. The nearest craft store to me is over 80 miles one way.

I have to say I love awards. Some have such pretty colors they just dress up your blog. I'd like to say thanks to crafting diva for stopping by my blog and taking the time to share these 2 awards with me. Tattered Hearts

My Mom would say don't put that safety pin on that card. In her day a pin was used to hold the hem in a dress until it could be stitched, or a baby diaper ( can you imagine washing all those diapers??). Times change more quickly than we want. BUT..as long as I can remember red has been a valentine color. Even that is changing these days though, anything goes, and different colors are great. We had some sunshine today but I didn't get a picture quick enough.
The paper is Making Memories, The overlay is KI Memories, K and Co. Die cuts, felt hearts I made myself and the tiny safety pins. I added a couple paperclips also.I laced my valentine ribbon thru the holes in the overlay. I wanted it to look like scraps that were barely staying in one piece. I think it worked.
I am getting sooooooooo addicted to my craft room. It started out on the dining room table. I was limited to the amount of supplies that I wouldn't care if someone came in the front door would see. I am now unlimited..I love it.

Yearning for Spring

I simply adore the colors I used for this card. It looks so much like summer, I must be bypassing spring. My daughter gave me the flowers so I have no idea where they come from, the brown rub-on lace is K and Co.( I think it looks perfect) The die cuts are K and Co. also. I adore the metal "Inspiration" that's the icing on the cake.

Snowy Valentine

I woke up to a world of white today. The snow I can handle but I sure hope we don't get all that ice. Days like today remind me of when I was in school. Where we live we call them "hollers." I suppose everyone out there would call them "hollows". Whatever you call them, winters can be mean. The bus didn't come all the way to my house so my Poppy took us to the bus stop...if that old bus didn't show up we headed back home. It was amazing how sleepy we were getting dressed and then how awake we were when we got back home. Life was good. Love was plentiful. Lessons were forgotten for the day. Wonderful memories that are priceless. If you look closely at the bottom of my card you will see the snow. The white was a great background for the bright red. Have a wonderful day and make memories for you and the ones you love. LIFE IS GOOD!!!! Even 1 mile down the road and still the same "holler."

I have learned that one never gets too old or too young to appreciate an award of some kind. So I thank you Amber for taking the time. It's a beautiful award, I love the colors. I thank you for passing on the inspiration to me and others in the " land of scrap." Now comes the hard part:

Layers Of Love

I put this little card together last night but just couldn't get the lighting I wanted to post. Today I was able to go outside so we'll see where the better pic was taken. I have a new lightbox but the problem with that is I haven't taken it "out of the box." Does me little good I can say. I used my Cricut to cut out the I Love You and the flower pieces. The three little flowers are K&Co, added a layer here and a layer there. I plan on someday putting together a masterpiece!!!!

Just a simple little card in pink and brown...( two of my favorite colors). I used My Mind's Eye glitter paper for the hearts. The white rub ons are K&Co and the title board also.

My daughter visited yesterday and brought me some flowers and doo-dads that I didn't have. My sister visited also and brought me new paper. So this springy card was made with Miss Elizabeth Paper, flowers "donated " by my daughter. My Mind's Eye chip board that I simply adore. I did some fancy designs using my Cricut I got for Christmas.
